A Blogtography picnic

As busy parents Team BWC don’t get lots of time to indulge in our hobbies or have a night off, so we were really happy when Karen Harvey of I Don’t Like Peas invited us along to her Blogtography Picnic on Jesus Green.

Sian and I decided to combine it with a yummy cocktail review we’d been invited too (watch this space for more on that one) and have a whole evening to ourselves. The brief for Blogtography event was to bring some food and some props and in return we were to be treated to some camera schooling and delicious cocktails by Aoife Maxwell (Sweetpeas and Sours). These cocktails (and mocktails in Alex’s case – Aoife whipping her up a version with just a ‘whisper of gin’!) were right up our street, made using Williams Elegant gin from Chase Distilleries  and including a gin, elderflower and lavender spritz number and a cucumber puree and herb syrup version to follow up. All with totally photogenic garnishes of course.

Karen’s gorgeous set up of all the goodies

Sian brought her arsenal of vintage fabric, cutlery and crockery including the much admired gold pineapple place holders and gold spoons. She also pillaged local gem Shelford Deli for their amazing carrot humus and a gorgeous looking Rovethym de Haute Provence goat’s cheese. Alex brought a few treats remaining from the weekend feast hamper that Waitrose kindly sent us, this combined with the goodies from sponsors Corkers Crisps, Pink Lady apples and of course the Aladdin mason jars, the scene was set for us to try out our snaps and settings.

We also got to chat with the other food and lifestyle bloggers of Cambridge, which was really nice, they also shared their food with us, including Nicole (of From Where Nicole Stands) who had made an amazing courgette and lime cake – we persuaded her to post the recipe too!

Our results were varied and we certainly want to gather more tips from Karen at future events. Let us know what you think. We mainly just loved getting together with other bloggers – there is the full list of the local bloggers who came along below, all their blogs are worth a follow!
