We’ve still got huge smiles on our faces after this corker of a do. We hope you loved our Summer Party as much as we did #CamMama crew. The sun shone, the Willow Tree tipi was amazing, everyone iced, decorated and became florists for the morning and we couldn’t have loved it more. You ladies make it what it is so thank you so much.
Our gorgeous venue was The Willow Tree at Bourn. If you haven’t been, they have a wonderful set up outside their weeping willow – with a tipi you can hire for private dining, swings under the tree and deckchairs galore to lounge in. If you missed our event then you can head over there anytime for a spot of alfresco dining or go to one of their regular events – the next few include TeeHee in the tipi comedy night, a teddy bears brunch under the Willow that’s kicking off weekly and their annual summer ball. Find out more on their website, Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. We started our event with welcome bowls of their mocktails including a strawberry iced tea and the secret garden – wonderfully delicious and looked two good to drink in the sunshine!
Katie Moore aka allotment – our blue-haired heroin with the best collection of glasses / sunglasses – blew our minds with vegan muffins. Allotment is all about working with the seasons, with what grows naturally and her flavours and decorations always work in harmony. She had made us each a delicious courgette and beetroot muffin, seasoned with za’tar and sumac, vegan and absolutely heavenly. We then topped these with whipped coconut cream and adorned with our choice of dehydrated goodies in our little bags, from grapefruit skin to courgette strips, incredible chia and seed crackers and edible nasturtiums (wow). The lovely Katie has popped recipe cards into our goody bags so we can create them at home. Allotment’s goodies are regularly on the counter of the Larder at Burwash Manor and she’s available for catering and bespoke cake, sweet and savoury orders just email firstname.lastname@example.org! The future is incredibly bright for this one and we were so honoured to have her with us. You can follow Katie on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook.
Jenni of Two Little Cats was as fun and wonderful as her baking creations! We were in absolute colourful cake heaven in the tipi with her peach, turquoise and pink icings and edible flowers. She tutored us in how to hold piping bags and taught two types of piping which we then decorated – they definitely looked too good to eat (almost). Jenni’s going to be sending all attendees her secret weapon recipes and if you’d like it to you can find her on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook. Jenni is all about playful baking, she even has a book coming out ‘Cakemoji‘ where she has re-created every emoji – in cake form! She had fearlessly baked thousands of cupcakes the week before and I honestly don’t think there’s any brief this woman couldn’t handle.
Now Anna of Anna’s flower Farm, surrounded by fresh, organic and local flowers, under a willow in the sunshine was about as dreamy a sight as you can get. It was beyond magic to see guests and their children transformed with natural floral head pieces, flower crowns, corsages, combs and even necklaces throughout the morning. All throughout Anna shares her tips, we even learnt that pegonias are edible and taste like grapes – who knew! We certainly ate our share of florals this #CamMama!
She will create bespoke to order hand-tied bouquets from her amazing garden for you, delivered locally and nationwide. Smaller posies and bouquets are sold on Friday evenings from the plant stall at Be@one, 1, Audley End Village with a trust box for payment. Anna can also be found at Saffron Walden Market once a month – make sure to follow her on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook for upcoming dates. We couldn’t think of anyone more magical to style and create flowers for any wedding or event too, whatever the size! If you were left wanted to hone skills or learn more one on one, Anna runs workshops and demonstrations throughout the year, from flower arranging, seasonal wreath making, event flowers and making your own cutting garden. One-to-one tuition booked directly.
Now no #CamMama is complete without an off-the-chart goody bag. Firstly another massive thanks to one of our CamMama ladies Alex of We Three Club who designed are logo and made the totes happen. Now to the goodies and big thanks to:
Caprera Foods – these guys are our biggest fans, they loved the idea of #CamMama so much they not only sent us the Ooomeringues in the goody bags but also the biscuits and insane chocolate drops that everyone loved on the tables. Caprera Foods are basically your independent foodie haven – bringing all the best small brands together nationwide and have great magazine articles and edits online too. They believe mums deserve good food, made well and not full of rubbish like the big players and that’s why they’ve also given us a £10 off your first order code (CAP10). Follow them on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.
Chazwinkles – Charli joined us for the day coming laden with jars of her incredible chutneys. More than just a chutney though these thoughtfully seasonal preserves came with delicious recipe cards and varieties such as beetroot, rhubarb and cauliflower and friends which instantly had our mums lathering them in burgers or drizzling them on pavlovas! Follow her on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.
Heavenly Tasty Organics – our mum-saviours on the day with nearly every child boshing theirs before they left! Dairy free their coconut squishies made with delicious coconut milk were donated as part of their #HealthyWithHeavenly initiative campaigning for healthy eating and low sugar snacking, and we can all agree with that! Follow them on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.
Simplee Aloe – who once again hydrated our CamMama’s with their summer-ready aloe vera juice. We’re seriously hooked on this in our house as a lower sugar, extra health benefit alternative to juice. Pretty perfect to make ice lollies with too we reckon! Follow them on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.
And of course not forgetting our completely wonderful mama-in-crime and BWC’s resident baking goddess, Charlotte Brown who rustled up the amazing CamMama and lavender biscuits. As if baking up such wonders wasn’t skill enough, Charlotte also sews the most beautiful name and monogram name plates through Margo and Morris – have a nosey at her Etsy shop.
Until next time #CamMamas…
