Easter round up: eggs, family days out and the best hunts around

Easter might be our favourite time of year – all that chocolate, all that spring in the air and all that asparagus tantalisingly round the corner. We’ll be making the most of the bank holiday weekend with our National Trust membership, egg hunts galore and lots and lots of feasting. Here’s our pick of great Easter bits and pieces to make your weekend eggs-tra special…

This isn’t just an Easter egg from Hotel Chocolat, it’s their Extra Thick Just Milk egg. And oh, just look at the thickness of that chocolate and the amount of those milk choccies inside. It’s our egg wishes come true – no one wants thin chocolate that breaks on first bite – we want a satisfyingly chunky shell thanks. And the box, we want this one hidden in the garden for us for the box alone. This is the ultimate in Easter indulgence and we’re all in.

Obsessed with pineapples in on our CV, we just can’t help it – on our clothes, on our stationery and now, as an Easter egg. Yep, we were in heaven when we came across this Pineapple Easter egg from Not On The High Street – all our pineapple-obsessed dreams come true!

If those rather blow the budget then we’re all about the new Lindt mini chocolate lambs – the perfect size for hiding under plant pots and balancing on top of the garden shed.

Waking up Easter Sunday, there is nothing but a hot cross bun on our minds. These new chocolate and orange Marks & Spencer ones are right up our street – we are firmly in team chocolate orange and not mint chocolate. You? Get them in store now. And we must mention that we recently got our hands on a Dovecote bakery classic hot cross bun – oh my, fluffy and oh so perfect.

All that chocolate needs working off with a bit of a run about and so we’ll be taking part on the Cadbury Easter Hunt at Wimpole Hall and roaming around the Ickworth Rotunda with a picnic in the walled gardens too. A day trip out to Bury St Edmunds is also high on the agenda – that sun-terrace at Northgate looks right up our street. Plus we’re big fans of the Abbey gardens – head towards the back and there’s a large sandpit and water pump that the kids all love playing in.

What are your Easter plans? Any eggs-cellent recommendations?
