Review: Yo Sushi! Sumo Bowls

Sushi is great, sashimi is great but sometimes, especially at this time of year, it’s just not hot enough. After traipsing the shops for those perfect Christmas gifts, you want something warm, steaming and filling, preferably with a nice glass of wine to wash it down.

Handy then that Yo Sushi! have just bought back their sumo bowls – seven selections of hot dishes that come in a comfortingly large bowl.

We hadn’t even done any Christmas shopping before we visited, but we did have three children with us so we deserved a break. We picked a classic Katsu curry and the beef ramen dishes. My ramen was great – thin slices of perfectly pink beef, broth with a kick and a good portion of noodles. Our new blogging mama Charley was equally delighted with her Katsu. We both finished our bowls, happy and ready to face journeys home with babies in tow. Should we ever get the chance for a good night out again, we imagine they’d be pretty good hangover cures as well.

As an added extra for the mamas out there – head for a bowl when waitress Mercedes in on and you will have a baby whisperer on hand to keep your baby entertained. She was wonderful!

As well as blogging we also host regular mama gatherings - sometimes just hangouts over coffee and cake and sometimes a creative class and making session with food. All welcome - with babies or as time to yourself. Find out more
