Top five cocktails spots in Cambridge

It’s that time of year – Christmas nights out, family festive gatherings and glitzy get-togethers are being planned from now until Christmas. Even our diaries are filling up and the babysitters are booked. Here’s our top five spots to head to for a cocktail in Cambridge…

One. 196.

The place for cocktails in Cambridge in our book. Based on Mill Road – number 196 funnily enough, it’s a debaucherous drinking den if ever we saw one. It’s small but perfectly formed. The cocktail list is scribbled on a piece of old A4 paper but ask for anything and the knowledgeable bar men will whisk it up. There’s nibbles too and a guaranteed great atmosphere. Sit at the bar for prime cocktail making watching and gossip.

Novi

Two. Novi.

It’s gold. What else do you need to know? A golden menu full of herby, botanical cocktails with the best garnishes in town. Come the weekends it’s open until 3am so it’s the place to head if you don’t want to go home yet but you don’t want to get sweaty in a club. Our current fav.

Hotel du Vin Cambridge

Three. Hotel du Vin.

The underground lair at this city centre hotel is the prime spot for romantic cocktails for two or to share all that gossip with a friend. Tuck yourself away in one of the alcoves, order two of your favourites and just r e l a x. They also run a number of cocktail making classes so keep an eye out for the 2016 line up.

Four. Espresso Library.

A firm favourite day time hang out for us BWC girls that now opens into the evening with a great cocktail line-up and sharing board nibbles too. The urban vibe inside will make you feel like you are drinking the night away in stylish Stockholm or chic Copenhagen. A classy spot.

The Vaults Cambridge

Five. Vaults.

Another underground gem. We love the big, comfy leather sofas and gorgeous backlit bar area to perch at. Look out for their fun cocktail presentation – chess pieces in your ice anyone? And now of course there is the added bonus of Cambridge Gin Lab too.
