Valentine candy cane lollipops

Let you inner cupid run wild in the build up to Valentines Day this February! These Valentine candy cane lollipops were loads of fun to make, super cheap and make the most delicious presents for anyone you’d love to treat. This recipe makes 6 lollies and if you have some cellophane bags to hand they look great tied with ribbon for gifts.

Ingredients:

12 peppermint candy canes

200g chocolate

sprinkles/edible decoration

6 oven proof lolly sticks

Method:

Preheat you oven to about 160 Celsius and line two baking trays with baking parchment. Now place the candy canes on the trays to make a heart shape, place the lolly stick at the bottom where the canes meet and bake for 3-4 mins. I made the error of not checking mine and they melted into a massive sugary mess all over the tray – so watch out for that! When they’re done (and haven’t melted) you’ll need to carefully pinch the canes together, it will be hot but you have to work quickly before the canes cool, best to not get the kids to do this bit. Once they have set you can crack on with melting the chocolate, either in a bowl over simmering water or in the microwave. Leave the candy cane lollies on the baking tray and carefully spoon the chocolate into the middle, now the decorating can begin! Once you have finished adding your artistic touches/declarations of love, leave them on the tray to set completely before peeling off. A really great activity for the kids on a soggy Winters afternoon!
